Duration of Placement: Up to 2 weeks
Placement Limits: 1 student per placement
Overview of Placement: As students are job shadowing they will be exposed to a range of proactive and reactive activities. They are expected to contribute to any discussions on matters relating to OHS and become experienced in recognising/identifying hazards, determining the level of risk and providing advice on mitigation strategies for both estate facilities and aviation safety.

Students will become experienced in negotiating and liaising with personnel within the organisation as well as external service providers and contractors.

They will also develop a better understanding of how OHS is implemented within the Commonwealth (APS personnel), its interaction with State legislation (contractors) and the work being undertaken in preparation of the new Work Health Safety Act of 2012 and its associated legislation.
Special Conditions of Placement: Students must complete a DSG OHS induction and Airside Awareness brief prior to commencing placement and be flexible in their approach to work schedules. They may also be required to undergo a Police check.

The placement is best suited to students undertaking tertiary studies in OHS or a related area.
