| Overview of Placement: | Students will visit all units which comprise the 1st Brigade (Adelaide), including a Mechanised Infantry Battalion (7RAR) and Artillery Battery (102 Coral Battery) and the Logistics Company (LSE). Students will be exposed to the equipment and vehicles used by 1st Brigade in a controlled and supervised manner, and will be introduced to the different career options available within the 1st Brigade and Australian Army. Students will partake in controlled and taliored team Physical Training sessions, which will include running, limited body-weight exercises and carrying objects under supervision. The students will be introduced to the main vehicles used by the units, including the M113AS4 (Armoured Personnel Carrier), the Bushmaster (Protected Mobility Vehicle), the M198 Artillery piece, as well as other general B Vehicles (such as the Land Rover, UNIMOG truck) The students will be shown the key weapon systems used by the Australian Army, which may include, but no limited to the F88 Styer, F89 Light Support Weapon, MAG 58 General Purpose Machine Gun, 84mm 'Carl Gustav' Medium Range Anti-Armour Weapon, .50cal Machine Gun. The wepaons will be rendered safe prior to the demonstration. No live ammunition will be present for any of these presentations. |
| Special Conditions of Placement: | Students need to disclose any known medical conditions, to allow for this to be taken into account for the Physical Training. Suitable footwear (runners) and clothing will be required. NOTE: Due to limited public transport to RAAF Edinburgh (Bus 421 departing from Mawson Lakes interchange), participants are advised to arrange drop-off and pick-up with their guardians/parents or school. |
