Overview of Placement: A program of mainly indoor activities providing participants with an insight into a wide range of Army Band activities. Commencing at approx 8.00am and finishing at 4.00pm each day (due to the diverse nature of unit activities there are times when the unit will perform on weekends and evenings, participants will be encouraged to attend these performance opportunities). Participants will have the opportunity to witness the diverse role of an Army Musician and experience a series of activities under the close supervision of highly professional Defence personnel. Insights into administration, Concert band rehearsals, smaller ensemble rehearsal opportunities and other specialisations are offered.
Special Conditions of Placement: Applicant must have a defined career path in or have commenced study in music or a similar field; additionally the student must be competent on a musical instrument to a level commensurate to AMEB Grade 7 or equivalent. Participants must be able to perform on an instrument of the woodwind, brass or percussion group. There is also scope for Guitarist, Bass Guitar, Piano and vocalist.
