| Overview of Placement: | Work Experience at 1st Recruit Training Battalion, Kapooka is an active day full of samples of the experience of life as an Army Recruit. The work experience day (9am - 4pm) provides an overview of Defence avenues of enlistment, trades, conditions of service and recruit training. This is followed by a series of supervised structured hands-on activities designed to familiarise students with basic military skills, discipline, courage and teamwork with a view to providing students with the information required to make an informed decision regarding the Australian Defence Force, as a realistic career choice. Nil cost - lunch provided. |
| Special Conditions of Placement: | Nominees for Work Experience at Kapooka must ensure that all documentation is submitted to Defence at least three weeks in advance of the nominated date. This is because staff must complete Occupation Health and Safety checks with the next of kin for each nominee. Phone calls are conducted during working hours, weekends and early evening. If the next of kin is unable to be contacted the nominee will not be able to participate in the work experience at Kapooka. |
