| Overview of Placement: | Radar Section will expose students to a program of indoor and outdoor activities providing participants with an insight into a wide range of jobs including, radar module assembly, test procedures, radar maintenance and support and many more. GSE Section will offer activities involving light, medium and heavy vehicle routine and major maintenance. LOG Section aims to provide sutdents with a broad overview of the logistics function within the Air Force including warehousing, distributions and governance; focussing on exposure to the importance of the Logistics Network in the wider Air Force through visits to other units around Base. Commencing at approx 8.00am and finishing at 4.00pm each day, participants will have the unique opportunity to witness the diverse role of the radar and vehicle Maintenance and Logistics, under the close supervision of highly professional Defence personnel. Depending on operational demand, students may also have the opportunity to visit an operational Squadron. |
| Special Conditions of Placement: | The placement is centred on the maintenance/engineering and/or the logistics environment and will be suited for students seeking to pursue a career in radar and vehicle maintenance/engineering or logistics. Students who apply must demonstrate a desire for work in the Air Force. NOTE: due to limited public transport to RAAF Williamtown participants are advised to arrange drop-off and pick-up with their guardian/parents or school. |
