Defence Work Experience Placements - Conditions for Participation
The following conditions apply to Defence work experience placements.
- An applicant must be a 'student' at an educational institution at the time the work experience application is lodged and the placement occurs;
- The applicant must be at least 15 years of age at the time of the placement;
- The applicant must be available to attend the relevant Defence site on the date/s the work experience placement is offered by Defence;
- Travel to and from the work site is the responsibility of the student;
- The applicant must complete, and lodge:
- the Defence Work Experience Application online form; and (if accepted)
- the Work Experience Placement Agreement form;
- The applicant must have successfully completed any mandatory pre-requisite training/activities required by their State and/or their Educational Institution prior to the commencement of the work experience placement;
- The applicant should be able to comply with any special conditions specified for the proposed work experience placement. Note: Where possible Defence will make appropriate and reasonable adjustments to accommodate students with special needs or from culturally diverse backgrounds;
- Where there is competition for a limited number of placements, Defence will decide which applicants will be successful. This decision will be made in consultation with the students' educational institutions; and
- Defence reserves the right to terminate any placement at any time without prior notice. The student, the parent (if relevant) and the educational institution will be advised of this decision.
