New Defence White Paper announced
Minister for Defence, the Hon. Mr Joel Fitzgibbon MP was accompanied by future leaders of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) at the Australian Defence Force Academy, as he announced the commissioning of a "plan for tomorrow’s leaders", the new Defence White Paper, the blueprint that will guide the ADF for the next 20 years.
The Defence Minister was joined by the Chief of the Defence Force, Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston and the Secretary of Defence, Mr Nick Warner, as he announced the principle author of the blueprint for Defence capabilities will be Deputy Secretary of Strategy, Governance and Coordination, Mr Michael Pezzullo.
The New Defence White paper will replace the previous one written before 2000, being more relevant to the current level and shape of threats to Australia and changing political situations in the Pacific region from now until 2030.
