Rear Admiral Clint Thomas was appointed Commander of Joint Logisitcs in November 2012 and as Australia's Senior Defence Strategic Logistician, is accountable for the oversight and assurance of the Defence logistic capability. In previous postings to Joint Logistics Command, Rear Admiral Thomas was Director General Strategic Logistics and Director General Supply Chain where he led the Defence Integrated Distribution System contract remediation team, improving logistic services to the Australian Defence Force, for which he was awarded a Chief of Defence Commendation.
During the early stages of Rear Admiral Thomas's career he developed wide experience across Navy logistics including; supply systems, logistics services, financial management, movements and transport functions. His operational experience also included several deployments to the Persian Gulf, with sea postings as the Supply Officer onboard HMAS DARWIN and as Supply Officer HMAS ADELAIDE and ashore as Officer-In-Charge Logistic Services HMAS CAIRNS and as Deputy Fleet Supply Officer. During this time, Rear Admiral Thomas was also employed in Training and Development, for which he recieved the coveted "Peter Mitchell Prize" and a Chief of Navy Commendation for excellence in Officer Training. Rear Admiral Thomas's excellence in the field of Training and Development was later combined with his logistics expertise through postings as Head of Supply and Health Facility and as Commanding Officer HMAS CERBERUS which coincided with his appointment as Training Authority-Logistics, where his values based and holistic approach to training garnered great success.
Rear Admiral Thomas enjoyed further successes as the Guided Missile Frigate Capability Element Manager and was awarded the Conspicuous Service Cross in the 2003 Australia Day Honours for his outstanding achievement in the management and preparation of Guided Missile Frigates for the War Against Terror.
