UXO Regions Help
The UXO Regions page allows you to look for areas where UXO are likely to be present. To check a region for the presence of known UXO contamination, you must take the following steps:
To select a state, simply click on the state on the map of Australia in the Select a State page. Alternatively, you may click on the state name at the right hand side of the page.
2. Find a Map
There are four different ways of finding a map within the selected state:
2.1 Find a Street (Option 1)
Enter the street name, or just the first few letters.  Click search to display a list of all streets whose names start with the letters you entered. You can narrow down your search by entering a suburb or town name (or just the starting letters). Click the Zoom to Street link next to the street you want to see, to display a map of that street.
When you are trying to find a street, the following error or warning messages might be displayed:
If neither Street nor Town/Suburb is entered, the following error message is displayed:
"You must enter either a street or a town/suburb".If no streets are found satisfying the requirements, the following warning is displayed:
"No street found [with name starting with <required street name>] [in town/suburb starting with <required town/suburb name>]."2.2 Select a Local Government Area (LGA) by Name (Option 2)
Scroll to find the LGA in the list at Option 2. You can repeatedly enter the first letter of the LGA name to bring your required LGA to the top of the list.  If you enter a letter that is not the start of a recognised LGA name, nothing will happen.
Click the Search button.  A map is displayed showing the requested LGA.
If you enter the name of an LGA that contains no known UXO areas, you will get a message stating that the area has not been mapped for UXO contamination yet. Press the Back button in your browser toolbar to return to the Query A Map page.
2.3 Find a Parcel (Option 3)
Different states use different names for land parcels. There might be Lot, Plan, Section, Division or others.  Some of these classifications are mandatory.  You must enter a value for each mandatory classification . You can refine your search by entering details for the other classifications. If you want to find a group of parcels, leave the other classifications blank.  You can just type the starting letters if you want.
Click the Search button.  A list of matching parcels is displayed.  To display a map of any of these parcels, click the Zoom to Parcel link.
When you are trying to find a parcel, the following error or warning messages may be displayed:
If a mandatory classification is not entered, the following error message pops up:
"You must enter a [mandatory classification] value".If the requested parcel is not found, the following warning is displayed:
"No parcel found for [classification] <requested value>. Only parcels within 500m of a known UXO area are available."If the parcel you're interested in is not close to a known UXO area, you will have to use one of the other three methods to find a map of your area.
2.4 Select an LGA from a Map of the State (Option 4)
Click on a shaded LGA in the map at Option 4 to display a map of that LGA. If you click on a white LGA, you will get a message stating that the area has not been mapped for UXO contamination yet. Press the Back button in your browser toolbar to return to the Query A Map page.
Once you have found a map, you may take any of the following actions:
3.1 Pan
Click on one of the eight triangles in the border around the map, to move to an adjacent map in the direction the triangle is pointing.
3.2 Zoom
Click the Zoom In button above the map to zoom in to the next larger scale. You will get a more detailed map covering a smaller area. Click the Zoom Out to move to the next smaller scale. You will see a larger area but there will be less detail in it. You can also set a specific scale by clicking one of the scale dots between the two zoom buttons. Rest your mouse over a dot to get a pop-up display of the actual scale for that dot (eg 1:100,000).
3.3 Recentre
Click the Recentre button (if it's not already highlighted) then click anywhere on the map, to bring that spot to the centre of the map.
3.4 Print
To print the current map, press the Print button. A new window will open displaying the map in PDF format for printing (you must have Adobe Reader installed for this feature to work). Choose File - Print from the menu bar to print the map. Close the Adobe Reader window to return to the UXO website.
3.5 Return to Home
Click the Home button to return to the original location and scale on the map.
3.6 Get Information
A small number of reports are available that give further information on UXO presence in certain areas (currently Rockhampton, Atherton Tablelands, the Gold Coast, and South-East Queensland). When the map displays all or part of one of these regions, the Info button is enabled. When this happens, click the Info button to view the report that relates to your current map region.
If you wish to obtain further information about known UXO contamination in a specific parcel, you may query the parcel on the map. To query a parcel:
