Categorisation Criteria
In those areas to which categorisation has been applied, assessments of residual UXO potential will refer to substantial or slight levels. Land parcels within designated slight or substantial zones retain their assessment unless they have been appropriately investigated or remediated. Defence's categorisation criteria include but are not limited to:

Defence recommends that, State or Local authorities should take action, as far as practical, to:

a.              notify affected landowners that their property is in a slight or a substantial potential UXO contamination area, as appropriate;

b.             publicise the authorities’ requirements for UXO investigation and remediation, in respect to land usage and development; and

c.              inform affected landowners, residents and those working in these areas that the area was used for military activities and ensure that they receive the appropriate UXO warning and advice as issued by Defence. See What Should I Do?
