Unit Commander

Your Unit is available to provide you with support and assistance during your separation from Defence. As you plan your separation and even perhaps avail yourself of various career transition benefits, you should keep your commander fully informed of your transition related activities.

If an absence from the workplace is required to attend transition activities, an Approved Absence may be permissible as a benefit under the Career Transition Assistance Scheme. Similarly, you should discuss your proposed career transition activities and training with your commander who can advise you on upcoming unit activities and other requirements that may impact on your transition planning.

Your ADF Transition Centre staff can advise you on your transition benefits.

Unit Information Visits

Contact your nearest ADF Transition Centre (ADFTC).

The ADFTCs' offer briefings and information sessions either at the ADFTC or at the Unit location. You are encouraged to contact your Unit Resettlement Officer to ascertain when the next briefing session is scheduled.

It is well worth attending an information session even if you are only considering your options as you will learn about a range of transition support measures that are available.
