ComSuper

You should make an appointment to meet with a representative from your military superannuation scheme to ensure you are fully aware of the benefits you may be entitled to.

You are encouraged to request a written benefits estimate from ComSuper so you have full visibility of your likely benefits.  You can also access similar information via the ComSuper website  (www.comsuper.gov.au).

There are a number of forms that MUST be completed PRIOR to your separation date in order for you to receive your entitlements in a timely fashion post-separation.  Failure to complete these forms can result in delays in you receiving your superannuation benefits.

Your ADFTC staff can provide you with contact details to access assistance from ComSuper.

Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA)

If you have suffered an injury, disease or illness which you believe may be related to your service in the ADF, you may be entitled to compensation for the effects of that injury, disease or illness.

You can apply for recognition of your injury or illness at any time throughout your career as you could be entitled to compensation now or at some time in the future.

If you have not already done so, you are strongly encouraged to lodge a claim for compensation with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA), even if your medical condition is not currently causing you any problems.  This will assist if the condition does cause problems (e.g. arthritis) later in life.

If liability is accepted by the DVA for an injury, disease or illness, eligibility for various forms of compensation, rehabilitation and, in some cases, repatriation benefits will then be assessed.

Visit www.dva.gov.au for more information about the services offered by DVA

Training and Information Program (TIP)

The Training and Information Program (TIP) provides training and information for Welfare and Pensions Officers who are volunteers working within Ex-service organisations (ESOs).  TIP training is delivered to enable representatives to provide the best possible advice to veterans and former serving members.  TIP representatives can provide assistance with claims for compensation and advice about DVA and other benefits and are independent of the Department.

You may wish to consult a trained person from your local area or from an organisation linked to your Service or Regiment. To find out more about the TIP program you can contact the following:
