Boeing Australia is the country's premier airborne mission systems integrator with domain expertise in weapon systems integration and fire control and stores software. Boeing Australia's evolutionary software development process, using contemporary software languages and standards (eg, Ada and safety critical software development to DO/RTCA 178-B), ensures the ability to integrate the latest technologies on to aircraft.

To support these activities, Boeing Australia has developed or subcontracted the development/production of Stores Management System test sets, pylon interface units and weapon emulators.

As the country's premier airborne mission systems integrator, Boeing Australia is currently performing significant capability enhancements on the Australian Defence Force's strike and fighter aircraft. These projects include:

  • Project Air 5398 – Air-to-Surface Standoff Weapons
  • F-111 Weapons Systems Business Unit (WSBU) – weapon system upgrades
  • F-111 Block Upgrade Program – major capability upgrades including mission computer software and the design and development of software and hardware to integrate new weapons and systems on the aircraft.

Boeing Australia's aircraft weapons integration projects are currently being performed at the Boeing Aerospace Support Centre – Amberley.

At the completion of all projects – F-111 Block Upgrade Program, F-111 Weapons Systems Business Unit (WSBU) and Project Air 5398 – Boeing Australia will have delivered an improved F-111 operational capability to the Australian Defence Force.
