software - ELA electrical load analysis software
Codarra has developed this software tool to analyse the electrical load placed on a range of air, land or sea platforms. The initial development was completed in 2004 and, while based on the MIL-E-F standard for aircraft, the ELA software is equally applicable across the full range of aerial, ground vehicles and naval vessels.
ELA enables engineers to effectively and efficiently model a complex system's electrical load status, providing them with a software tool to:
- Baseline and analyse a system's electrical load requirements and power generation capacity
- Construct hypothetical scenarios to model the impact of modifying the existing electrical system
- Visualise a platform's electrical system through drag and drop circuit entry
- Report on any imbalance of electrical load across all three phases, and
- Build and maintain a database of electrical load designs for different vehicles.
The software has a graphical user interface for ease of use, and enables the user to draw circuits to be analysed by dragging and dropping devices into the workspace, together with individually specified wires and buses. Warnings are displayed should a potential overload situation be identified and a report is generated. The report contains images of the circuit, and charts and graphs that readily identify if a power source is reaching its rated capacity. Users can generate a series of operating conditions, tailoring the application to meet specific needs.
