armoured vehicles - ballistic track shrouds
Mackay ballistic track shrouds are an integral ballistic protection of armoured vehicles lower hull. The current design (bonded steel within rubber reinforced layers) is easy to fit on military vehicles - no extra modifications or drilling to the vehicle is needed prior to fitting. The Mackay shrouds offer easy access for ongoing maintenance, increased protection, better dust signature control, 16% lighter in weight - giving fuel savings, less expensive than the imported alternatives, increased quietness, and greater safety for military personnel.
The ballistic components and overall design were developed in close conjunction with Australia's Defence Materiel Organisation and under a licensing agreement with the Defence, Science and Technology Organisation.
With more than 85,000 M113 armoured vehicles in service worldwide, Mackay is showcasing the shrouds, and many other military products, to potential defence customers globally.
