Sonartech Atlas Pty Ltd
Sonartech Atlas is an Australian-based designer and manufacturer of sonar systems for both military and civilian applications.
During the course of two decades of operation, the company has established a solid reputation as Australia's leading sonar research and development house, providing products and specialist services to the Australian Defence Force as well as Armed Forces in North America, Europe and Asia.
The company is owned by ATLAS Electronik GmbH, who in turn are jointly owned by ThyssenKrupp and EADS making the Atlas group a member of a very large family of defence related companies. The global resources of the ThyssenKrupp and EADS groups complement the products and capabilities of Sonartech Altas, a completely Australian operation, based at headquarters in Sydney.
Sonartech Atlas purchased Acoustic Technologies in late 2006, whose portfolio of mainly sonobuoy based processing systems, dovetail well with the Sonartech Atlas primarily ship and submarine borne processors.
Sonartech Atlas is arguably the world leader in the design of intercept ranging sonars - a product line which forms the core of the military sonar sales of the company.
