Intercept Reliability Systems Pty Ltd
Intercept Reliability Systems Pty Ltd (Intercept) has been providing aerospace and maritime platforms maintenance advice together with enhance preventative maintenance strategies developed using Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) practices to the Australian Defence Force and Defence Force Contractors since 1999.
In 2005 Intercept developed a unique and world leading Corrosion RCM Pilot Program (CRCM), which was applied to the RAAF's C-130J-30 Hercules fleet. The aim of the program was to develop the most cost effective maintenance program to control corrosion and environment degradation on the aircraft until its planned withdrawal date; these CRCM Programs are now in place for the C-130J-30, the AP-3C, and the MRH 90. The CRCM Programs developed by Intercept applies dedicated corrosion science and aircraft structural engineering to accurately assess the rate of material degradation to set appropriate inspection intervals that monitor and manage the precursors of corrosion damage rather than treating the symptoms, the corrosion itself.
Since 2005, Intercept now offers to the ADF and Defence Through Life Support Contractors parallel RCM Programs, one that is tailored towards controlling and managing corrosion damage, the other systems RCM program streamlines the overall maintenance strategy for the weapons system. This holistic approach ensures that:
- The cost of ownership for each weapons system that the ADF operates is optimised and properly managed,
- Its operational availability increases, and
- Unscheduled maintenance actions are significantly reduced.
