Fiomarine Industries Pty Ltd

Fiomarine Industries Pty Ltd is a wholly Australian-owned company, located within the Tasmanian Technopark, Glenorchy. It was founded in 1996, and is credited as a Recognised Supplier of underwater marine equipment to the Australian Defence Department.

Its main product line, the Fiobuoy®, was initially developed in collaboration with the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) and its expertise and technologies have been utilised in several projects undertaken by DSTO and the Australian Hydrographic Office. It has developed a close working relationship within the Australian Defence Force spanning 10 years

Fiomarine has clients in various defence departments and research institutions around the world and in 2007 sealed its second major supply contract with the United States Navy. This follows its first sale in 2005, and cements Fiomarine's position as a major global defence supplier.

Fiomarine is keen to work with its clients and tailor the Fiobuoy technology to meet their needs. Features such as length and depth of deployment can be customised and a hollow casing makes it possible for customers to incorporate specialised equipment into the Fiobuoy.

Fiomarine can also assist in developing new safe and economical concepts in ocean equipment retrieval, which is often sacrificial and costly. Its acoustic communication system and new gas management system have been incorporated into the Cormorant Lift Bag developed for the RAN. This development was a joint venture between Fiomarine and Life Raft Systems Australia.
