Hello and welcome to the 2008 Edition of the Defence Export Controls Bulletin.

This edition includes an update on the Australia – United States Treaty on Defense Trade Cooperation, an article on recent amendments to the European Union’s chemical regulations, and other stories exploring the Defence and Strategic Goods List (DSGL) and DECO permits and licences.

DECO’s Outreach plans will continue to expand into the New Year with activities including our successful training courses including Executive Overview and Practitioner’s Workshop, as well as attending Defence and Industry Conferences and other similar events. If you have any ideas on how DECO can enhance our outreach program please let us know at deco@defence.gov.au.

The Government’s policy is to encourage the export of defence and dual use goods and DECO’s role is to ensure that those exports are consistent with Australia’s strategic obligations.

The Team at DECO look forward to working with you in the future and wish you and your family a happy and safe holiday season.
