Health support allowance – reserves

You may get health support allowance - capability at short-notice to keep your health levels at the required standard.

Who can get health support allowance - capability at short-notice?

You may get health support allowance - capability at short-notice if you:

  • are a member of the Reserves on Reserve service, and
  • serve 20 days of Reserve service during a financial year.

You may get health support allowance – capability at short-notice if you have:

  • an agreement with your Service to provide capability at short notice, and
  • appropriate health insurance.

What do I have to do to get health support allowance - capability at short-notice?

You may apply for health support allowance - capability at short-notice. If you meet the eligibility criteria, you may get the allowance.

To get health support allowance - capability at short-notice you must:

  • have an appropriate health insurance
  • make an annual health declaration
  • provide any required information, and
  • provide any required documentation.

You may get the allowance once in a 12 month period.

If you don’t have appropriate health insurance at any time during the 12 months’ allowance period, you may have to repay part of your allowance.
