Diving allowance

You may get diving allowance to make up for the special demands of diving duties.

Who can get diving allowance?

You may get diving allowance if you are a member of the:

  • Permanent Forces
  • Reserves on continuous full-time service, or
  • Reserves on Reserve Service.

When can I get diving allowance?

You may get diving allowance if you are:

  • undergoing diving training
  • a diver and required to perform diving duties
  • a medical member and required to perform diving duties, or
  • undergoing training to be a medical member and required to perform diving duties.

You may also get diving allowance if you are:

  • posted to a position of diving instructor at the Army Diving School, and
  • required to regularly perform diving duties.

You may get an annual or a daily rate of allowance.

Can I get other allowances at the same time?

You can't get submarine escape disability allowance at the same time as diving allowance.

If you get diving allowance, you can't other allowances at the same time. This includes:

  • Special Forces disability allowance, and
  • clearance diver allowance.
