ADF Member's Guide

Life insurance – Additional risk insurance

You may get a refund if you have to pay more for your life insurance because of the work you do and the additional risk it involves.

Who can get a life insurance refund?

You may get a life insurance refund if you are a member of the:

  • Permanent Forces
  • Reserves on continuous full-time service, or
  • Reserves on Reserve service.

When can I get a life insurance refund?

You may pay a higher premium on your yearly life insurance for yourself or your dependant because of the work you do. You may get a refund once a year.

You won't get a refund if your premium is higher because of where you serve.

You have to pay the premium before you get any refund. You have to prove you paid the premium.

More information about this allowance and specific amounts can be found in Chapter 4 Part 10.

Important information
