Marlon Perez - Defending His New Country

Secret Harbour’s Marlon Perez came with his parents from the Philippines in 1992. Now he wears the double dolphin badge of our Navy’s elite Submarine Squadron and he’s out defending the interests of his new country.

“We lived in Adelaide for eleven years before I joined the Navy in February 2001. Mum and Dad still live in Adelaide with my younger brother Marty — but now I’m settled in Secret Harbour with my wife Kristine and our son Kaleb.

“I’ve just completed my training at HMAS Stirling and I’m now a qualified submariner onboard HMAS Rankin.

“I handle incoming and outgoing signals for the submarine at sea, dress the ship on ceremonial occasions and use bridge communications.

”Since I joined the Navy, I’ve been to Christmas Island, Thailand and Singapore. But when I’m ashore I love spending time with my family, because family comes first!”
