Dionette Daly - MANDURAH MEDIC’S PASSION FOR THE JOB

Mandurah-based Dionette Daly, an Able Seaman Medic in the Navy, thoroughly enjoys her job as a medic on a submarine.

“I love the variety, and I love looking after people,” Dionette said.

“I really get a buzz from attending to real emergencies.”

Dionette’s role also involves driving the submarine, undertaking watch-keeping and tactical duties, and coordinating medical evacuations.

Dionette graduated from Mandurah Senior Campus before joining the Navy in 2004. Since completing her initial recruit training at HMAS Cerberus in Victoria, Dionette has completed various medical and submariner courses, and is now a fully qualified medical submariner.

“It really is a highly rewarding job and it’s also given me the chance to travel around Australia.

“But my husband Josh isn’t in the Navy, so he has to deal with me being away at sea for several months of the year.

“I’m the submarine’s sole medical attendant, so multi-tasking is a huge part of my role.

“I’m very passionate about working in the Navy,” Dionette said.
