Paolo Neri - Frankston High Graduate Set To Thrill Crowds At Avalon

PAOLO Neri never thought a few introductory flights at Peninsula Aero Club in Tyabb on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria would help ignite a desire for a career in the Royal Australian Air Force.

The Frankston High School graduate joined the Air Force in 2009 after successfully completing the recruitment process to become an Air Combat Officer.

Flying Officer Paolo Neri is now a qualified Weapons System Officer in a state-of- the art F/A-18F Super Hornet. He is a valued member of Number 1 Squadron which is based at RAAF Base Amberley in southern Queensland.

The Royal Australian Air Force F/A-18F Super Hornet gives Australia an upgraded air combat capability for both air-to-air and air-to-ground missions.

The F/A-18F Super Hornets are larger than the classic model with many detail improvements. Air Force has 24 F/A-18F Super Hornets, which will ensure that Australia's air combat capability edge is maintained.

FLGOFF Neri said high levels of job satisfaction coupled with the opportunity of extensive travel add to the joy of being an Air Force Officer.

“I think I have one of the best jobs in the world.  I have made some lifelong mates and there are always opportunities for career development and training,” he said.

“I trained at the School of Air Warfare at RAAF East Sale, then completed Lead-In fighter training in Western Australian and New South Wales.  I am now based at RAAF Amberley in Queensland.  So I guess you can say that I have seen most of Australia and been paid for it!”

Flying Officer Neri and his colleagues are set to thrill the crowds at the upcoming Avalon International Air Show 2013.

The Air Show will be held 26 February to 3 March at Avalon Airport Geelong, Victoria. Members of the public can attend the Air Show from 1 March to 3 March.

“We are all looking forward to taking part in Avalon International Air Show 2013.  It will be a great opportunity to interact with the general public,” FLGOFF Neri said.
