Able Seaman Boatswains Mate Andrew Borlase

Able Seaman Boatswains Mate Andrew Borlase about to spray-paint in the painting booth at HMAS Stirling.

23 year old Andrew grew up in Hampton Park , South East Melbourne. His father now lives in Drysdale and Mum in Iona Victoria . He attended Ashwood College where he played Baseball at school and state level.

Andrew joined the Royal Australian Navy after finishing High School on the 23rd June 2003 as a Boatswains Mate and has completed a Certificate 3 in public Safety and Light Rigid Truck course. He has also received two Commanding Officer Commendations.

Since joining Andrew has been posted to ships HMAS Manoora and HMAS Arunta participating in exercise Singaroo, Exercise Bersama Lima and Operation Reflex. He has been to New Zealand , Singapore , Japan , Malaysia , and Russia.

Andrew currently works on Garden Island , Western Australia in Corrosion Control. His Job involves Industrial Blasting and spray painting of Naval Equipment.

When asked what he loved about his job Andrew replied

"I love Being at Sea, where else can you see something different everyday."

When not at work Andrew likes to play softball, he is a member of the Defence Force Softball Team.
