Jason Carbone - Sea-time for Beaufort's Navy ManJason went to Beaufort High School then spent two years in his Fitting and Turning Apprenticeship at the School of Mines in Ballarat.
Armed with those skills, he then decided to give the Navy a try. Now promoted to Able Seaman, Jason has specialised as a marine technician.
Jason has also been part of the crew of HMAS Ballarat, one of the Navy's newest ANZAC-class frigate, since it commissioned back in March 2004.
"I joined the Royal Australian Navy on the 21st of January 2002 . I can even remember the exact day!" said Jason.
"The best part of my job is being able to travel and see some amazing places. For example, we have just completed an Anti Submarine Warfare Exercise over in Western Australia - and now we'll be heading back to our home port of Sydney before the end of the year."
