Daniel Lapham is use to juggling large pieces of machinery Private Lapham is a member of the Movement Control Detachment moving based at the Multi National Base at Tarin Kot.
33-year-old PTE Lapham of Redcliffe, who has deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, has been a Movement Operator since April last year and was previously an ASLAV and Bushmaster Protected Mobility Vehicle (PMV) driver.
“I arrived here in mid-October last year and apart from assisting with booking leave for personnel to go home or overseas, I work with the PMV vehicle rotations into and out of Afghanistan,” PTE Lapham said.
“My previous deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan were nothing like this. I was out and about working with the Iraqi Army, the Afghan National Army and local people.I now work behind a desk and around the airfield,” he said.
PTE Lapham said the best part of his deployment was meeting and working with new people.
“It’s been good interacting with and working with a lot of different units and people, seeing what they do here,” he said.
“What we do here’s important. If we weren’t here there would be no-one to write the movement orders, book people’s leave or flights out of Afghanistan,” PTE Lapham added.
