Tom Cotton - Wynnum soldier keeps army wheels rolling
A lone Army mechanic at Forward Operating Base Hadrian in Uruzgan Province, Afghanistan is keeping the fleet on the road.
Craftsman Tom Cotton, 22 of Wynnum, loves being his own boss and is proud of the fact that he is maintaining the fleet of Bushmasters, ASLAV’s, up armoured Unimog’s and Mack trucks that service the base.
While this entails very long hours of skilled labour, in between repairing and servicing the fleet, he indulges in another passion, that of restoring worn out motorcycles located at the base.
It presents a challenge that sharpens his skills but also gives the motorcycles a new lease of life for coalition and Afghan National Security Force use.
