Jamie Sargeant and Shaun Spohn - Keep Them Dogies Movin’

Cairns soldier Craftsman Jamie Sargeant, 21, and his Recovery Mack team-mate Corporal Shaun Spohn, 25 from Townsville with their work-horse, the Recovery Mack Truck, in Dili, Timor-Leste.

Jamie, 21, and Shaun, 25, are both members of the Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. It’s a group that are not often in the limelight but they are every bit as critical to the success of operations as the front line infantry.

The workshops in Dili are no exception, where Jamie, Shaun and his mates have a large vehicle fleet to maintain — everything from Landrovers to Mack trucks. In addition they maintain a wide range of electrical and mechanical equipment. Specialist Armourers also maintain all weapons so they remain safe and serviceable.

Jamie, Shaun and a thousand other Diggers are currently serving in Timor-Leste. Their mission is to assist the Timor-Leste Government and the United Nations to bring stability, security and confidence to the Timorese people, so they can resolve their differences democratically and peacefully.
