Beau St Leone - Darwin
Sergeant (SGT) Beau St Leone of Darwin was among a select group of Australian Defence Force personnel invited to meet HRH Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall during their recent visit to Garden Island Sydney as part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Tour. He was accompanied by his wife Toni and their young son Eli.
The 32-year-old former St Johns College School student is currently a training Sergeant with the 1/15 Royal New South Wales Lancers.
SGT St Leone said Prince Charles seemed very down to earth and knew a lot about the operations Australia had been involved with.
“I thanked his for the shortbread biscuits and cigars he sent us when we were deployed on Overwatch battle Group 3,” he said.
“He noticed I was Armoured Corps and asked me how that was.”
Toni St Leone said she was surprised how genuine and informed he was.
“The day will be something our son can look back on in later life,” she said.
