Paul Rosenberger - Palmerston Major synchronises supply lines in the Middle East

Palmerstons' Paul Rosenberger is currently serving as the Operational boss of the Australian Force Logistic Base in the Middle East providing support for Operation Catalyst.

1,400 ADF personnel are spread across the region as part of the Multi National Force providing secure and stable environments for communities in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Force Level Logistic Asset (FLLA) has a tri-service staff of 140 and is responsible for delivering in-country acclimatisation training, logistic support to all 3 ADF services and communication links between Australia and the force elements stationed in the region.

Major Rosenberger said "We've drawn staff from 25 different units and ships to work together to reinforce our frontline operations. We've not only got weapons and signals specialists but plumbers, carpenters, electricians and mechanics all focussed on making sure the three services are effective in their patrols."

"In the past two months we've delivered half a million kilograms of military stores and spare parts to ADF bases. 1,500 Australians have passed through the FLLA base on their way to assignments and 600 soldiers and air crew have gone through acclimatisation training."

"On top of that the service postal workers have handed out 80 thousand kilograms of mail from families back in Australia to staff across the region."

"Operation Catalyst is one of the most challenging yet rewarding jobs I've ever been involved with. With the three services working so close together under one roof the exchange of ideas between personnel of all ranks has lead to some significant changes to make us more effective. It's very satisfying to see proposals put forward and signed off approved by higher command and implemented within days."

"I am enjoying the intensity but I'm also really looking forward to getting home to Palmerston, sitting on the verandah with my wife and three kids for a big bbq."

"The Federal Government has also given very practical support to all ADF staff on operations, allowing regular free phone calls home. It eases the difficulties of a six month separation and allows all of us to remain a part of our children's lives even though we are thousands of kilometres and another time zone away."
