Aktaruzzaman Rasel - Bligh Park
Aktaruzzaman Rasel of Bligh Park NSW always dreamed of serving in the Australian Defence Force.
Born in Dhaka Bangladesh, where his father was a police officer, the 30-year-old Leading Aircraftman joined the Royal Australian Air Force in 2007.
After undergoing basic military training at RAAF Base Edinburgh and his initial employment training at RAAF Base Wagga, Rasel earned a Certificate Four in warehousing and logistics.
“When I was kid I always wanted to fly and when I saw a veteran with medals I wished that I could also serve my country. Those were the things that influenced me to join Air Force. I am honoured to be part of the Defence Force.
One of Rasel’s proudest moments in the RAAF was when he received his Australian Active Service Medal after deploying to Afghanistan on Operation Slipper in 2011.
Rasel is married with a son. He says when he is not in uniform he enjoys time at home, gardening, riding motorbikes and travelling.
