Bruce Dingle - Sawtell
Sawtell man Private Bruce Dingle, 25 a Infantryman in the 41st Royal New South Wales Regiment is soon heading overseas.
After a few months jungle training at Canungra, near the Gold Coast, Bruce will be heading for East Timor as part of an Australian-led international force.
They are there at the invitation of the East Timorese government to help provide stability while local groups sort out their differences in a peaceful and democratic way.
“I’m looking forward to it — I wouldn’t have signed up if I wasn’t,”said Pte Dingle. It’s not his first overseas trip in the Army Reserve. He has previously been deployed to Malaysia, The Solomon Islands and border protection forces based in Darwin.
“I’ll definitely need a holiday when I get back,” said Bruce. “My little brother Ross is over in Europe so I reckon I’ll catch-up with him.”
Of the 100,000 Australians entitled to wear Army uniform, some 45,000 are Reservists.
