Adam White - Jerrabomberra
Evatt resident Tom White and ex-Melba resident Jayne Payne will have something special to watch on TV this ANZAC Day.
Their son, Corporal Adam White, 34, will be part of the official Australia’s Federation Guard contingent at ANZAC Cove. They will be able to see him as the ceremony is relayed to Australia later in the day.
“I was a construction worker,” said Adam.
“I decided I needed more challenges and joined the Australian Army in 2000. I wanted an admirable job that offered opportunities for personal growth and career progression,” said Adam.
Adam specialised as an Infantryman serving in East Timor, Iraq, Afghanistan and Malaysia before being posted to the Royal Military College Duntroon as an instructor. He was then recommended for the Guard.
“The Guard is based in Canberra and most of our ceremonial duties are within Australia,” said Adam.
“However, I have been fortunate to be part of the Australian contingent at Fromelles in France, for the re-interment of recovered World War I diggers in the Frommelles Military Cemetery.
“To be chosen for ANZAC Cove — I feel humbled just to be part of such a significant event, participating in the ANZAC Ceremony at Gallipoli is an honour for anyone in the Services.
“To have my wife Nikki and my family watch the ceremony on national television will enable them to share this significant experience with me,” said Adam.
