Scott Jobson - Balgownie Man Keeps Wheels Turning
The Digger has specialised as a vehicle mechanic in the Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. It’s not a group that often get in the limelight but soldiers like Scott are every bit as critical to the success of operations as the front line infantry.
The workshops in Dili are no exception, where Scott and his mates have a large vehicle fleet to maintain — everything from Landover’s to Mack trucks. In addition they maintain a wide range of electrical and mechanical equipment. Specialist Armourers are there to maintain all weapons so they remain safe and serviceable.
Scott and a thousand other Diggers are currently serving in Timor-Leste. Their mission is to assist the Timor-Leste Government and the United Nations to bring stability, security and confidence to the Timorese people, so they can resolve their differences democratically and peacefully.
