Jason Beach - Killarney Vale’s Military Muso

Killarney Vale’s Jason Beach, 37, is just back from his latest overseas trip. Now a Leading Seaman in the Navy, he’s been touring the Middle East with some of Australia’s most respected entertainers as part of the latest Forces entertainment tour to Iraq and Afghanistan.

“I started my musical career at age 10 with the local brass band playing tuba.  Now I’ve been a member of the of the Royal Australian Navy band for the last 15 years, after seeing an advertisement looking Navy Musicians. It’s a decision I was happy to make!

“It’s been fantastic, I’ve enjoyed my time and I’ve got to travel all over the world. And now I do vocals too.

“But it’s my first tour to Iraq and Afghanistan, and it’s had the greatest impact. I’ve sung in front of thousands of people in the Solomon Islands, but the Middle East was the greatest experience I’ve ever had as a singer and a defence member - it’s been the highlight of my career.

“There was another surprise — I was amazed by the enormity of the operation going on in the Middle East. I knew it would be big but the size and the amount of personnel there in that part of the world just astounded me.”

Jason was one of the many performers in the latest Tour De Force, which brought together members of the Royal Australian Navy band with Angry Anderson, Tania Zaetta, Ami Williamson, the Wolverines, Brielle Davis and comedian Fred Lang.

Donating their time free of charge, these Australian performers carry on a tradition that began in the Second World War, entertaining troops of all nationalities with shows that are distinctively and proudly Australian.
