Backstage crew of Operation Pakistan Assist

About 30 support staff are members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) medical outpost near Dhanni, Kashmir, providing primary health care in a region devastated by the 8 October 2005 South Asia earthquakes.

Their range of specialties includes electricians, cooks, logisticians, communicators, military police and administrators.

The support staff maintain the essential facilities and services which enable the ADF medical centre, Camp Bradman, to operate at Dhanni.

They provide the self-sufficiency which is vital to humanitarian relief work in this remote town, about 20km north-east of Muzaffarabad, on the Pakistan side of the Kashmir Line Of Control.

So much local infrastructure was destroyed by earthquake in this area that no buildings remain which might be adapted to adequately house the ADF team.
