20 April 2003
Medical aid arrives in Iraq under Operation Baghdad Assist
Phase 2 Al-Nasariyiah

Australian medical aid is unloaded from an RAAF C130 Hercules in Iraq, watched by Australian troops.
Vital medical aid, which recently left Australia, finally arrived in Iraq on board two RAAF C130 Hercules flights.
The first load of donated medical items, drugs, stretchers and crutches was delivered into the Talill military base, 5km south of Al-Nasariyiah on Good Friday.
The arrival was greeted by LTCOL Don Wadley, of the U.S. 486th Civil Affairs Battalion, who supervised the unloading of the aid by his troops.
LTCOL Wadley’s battalion is responsible for the delivery of the much-needed medical aid into Al-Nasariyiah’s two hospitals.
He said the Australian medical aid was the first aid received for Al-Nasariyiah, where medical supplies were very low and staff limited in offering a service to the Iraqi people.
