Welcome home for HMAS Kanimbla, Fleet Bast East, Garden Island, Sydney
17 July 2003

HMAS Kanimbla was today welcomed back to her home port of Sydney in spectacular fashion. Over 50 motor launches from the Royal Motor Yacht Clubs of Sydney provided an escort guard for the ship and three Navy Sea King helicopters conducted a fly past to honour her as she returned home from the Persian Gulf.

Deputy Prime Minister John Anderson and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Defence Fran Bailey, who represented the Minister for Defence, were joined by families and friends at the official welcome home for HMAS Kanimbla from the six-month deployment in the Persian Gulf.
