Security Task Group briefing
Army Reserve soldiers from all over Australia have been brought to Sydney as part of Operation DELUGE, to provide a Security Task Group (STG) which will conduct low risk search and security checks on all motor vehicles and buildings involved with the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings.
The STG enhances the capabilities of the New South Wales Police Security Task Force by providing dedicated search teams in key locations across the city.
The ADF will act in support of the NSW Police and other government agencies as part of the overall security arrangements for the APEC 07 Leaders' meetings.
The ADF is providing approximately 1500 people along with a range of equipment, as part of Operation Deluge, to support the security aspects of APEC 07 in Sydney during September.
A range of capabilities will be in place throughout the period of the meetings in support of the New South Wales Police to ensure that Australia stages a safe, secure and successful event for the delegates.
