Air-to-air refuelling for Operation Deluge

The Boeing 707s of No.33 Squadron are offering air refuelling support to Air Force F/A-18.

Hornets patrolling the restricted flying zone over Sydney as part of Operation DELUGE, the Australian Defence Force's effort to support the New South Wales Police Security Task Force for the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) conference.

By refuelling in flight, the RAAF's Hornets are able to extend their patrols, making them a very effective asset should any airborne threat arise.

The ADF will act in support of the NSW Police and other government agencies as part of the overall security arrangements for the Asian Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Conference 2007 Leaders' meetings.

The ADF is providing approximately 1500 people along with a range of equipment as part of Operation Deluge to support the security aspects of the APEC 07 in Sydney during September.

A range of capabilities will be in place throughout the period of the meetings in support of the New South Wales Police to ensure that Australia stages a safe, secure and successful event for the delegates.
