Operation Deluge water operations
The Australian Defence Force (ADF) conducted security training in and around Sydney Harbour on 17 August 2007 as part of a comprehensive program to practice its response to security-related incidents within Australia during the APEC Leaders' Week in September 2007.
Perfecting security skills, the ADF has been taking to the waters of Sydney Harbour, testing and practising with their watercraft to maintain a high level of preparedness to respond rapidly to any emergency they are called in to help with.
The ADF will act in support of the NSW Police and other government agencies as part of the overall security arrangements for the APEC 07 Leaders' meetings.
The ADF is providing approximately 1500 people along with a range of equipment as part of Operation DELUGE, to support the security aspects of APEC 07.
A range of capabilities will be in place throughout the period of the meetings in support of the New South Wales Police to ensure that Australia stages a safe, secure and successful event for the delegates.
