APEC Airspace Brief

Australian Defence Force (ADF) Members working as part of Operation Deluge conducted a ‘Joint Presentation’ with representatives of the NSW Police Air-Wing, and Air Services Australia to address the fine details of the Restricted Airspace procedures for APEC 07 Leaders’ week.

The presentation was attended by all national and international aviation industry delegates operating from Sydney International Airport. The forum provided a prime opportunity for open communication between all parties. This information process is an important part of the work conducted to minimise disruption to the Aviation industry operators yet providing security during the event.

The ADF will act in support of the NSW Police and other government agencies as part of the overall security arrangements for the APEC 07 Leader’s meetings.

The ADF is providing approximately 1500 people along with a range of equipment, as part of Operation Deluge, to support the security aspects of the APEC07 Leader’s Meetings in Sydney during September.

A Range of capabilities will be in place throughout the period of the meetings in support of the New South Wales Police to ensure that Australia stages a SAFE, SECURE and SUCCESSFUL event for the delegates.
