AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL COMMAND ELEMENT (ASNCE)

The Australian National Command Element is the Headquarters for the Commander of the Australian Contingent in East Timor.

The Commander, Australian Contingent (COMASC) is Colonel Wayne Fleming, formerly of Land Command. ASNCE is supported by a Chief of Staff (currently Wing Commander Chris O'Beirne) and eight Principle Service Officers. These officers are responsible for the areas listed below:

  • Personnel Branch
  • Force Protection Branch
  • Operations
  • Logistics
  • Engineering
  • Finance
  • Legal Branch
  • Public Affairs and Public Information

ASNCE also provides staff to the Joint Amenities Unit, and the Australian Army Post Office Cell based at Battalion Group Rear located in southern Dili.
The COMASC has overall responsibility for all Australian peace keeping forces in East Timor and represents Australia's military interests in East Timor.
