Commanding Officer of MRTF2 - Tours his Areas of Operation

The Commanding Officer (CO) of the 2nd Rotation of the Mentoring and Reconstruction Task Force (MRTF-2), Lieutenant Colonel (LTCOL) Peter Connolly, has toured Australia's area of operation (AO) in Southern Afghanistan. The trip was a chance for the CO to meet and talk to his soldiers located at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) and Patrol Bases (PB) in the Uruzgan Province. During the tour,LTCOL Connolly also attended a shura at Sajawul, in the Dorafshan region, where Uruzgan Deputy Provincial Governor, Haji Khoday Rahim Khan, handed over items for the upgrade of a hydro-electric power plant (HEPP) to the community. MRTF-2 and AusAID mentored the Uruzgan Director of the Department of Energy and Water, Engineer Mohammad Abdul Kabir, to procure the items, with AusAID providing the funding for the cement, steel wire rope, water sluice and 3 Phase Dynamo/generator.
