MRTF2 on Patrol in the Baluchi Valley

Patrolling in the green zone was an eye opening experience for members of Combat Team Alpha.

It was one of their first patrols in Afghanistan since taking over from the previous rotation last month.

The patrol aimed to improve security in the Baluchi Valley for the upcoming election and give members of the combat team a good look at the area in which they will be operating for the coming months.

Starting in the dry hills overlooking the green zone, the soldiers headed into farming land in the Baluchi Valley and met with locals.

Combat Team Alpha is part of the second rotation of the Mentoring and Reconstruction Task Force, which is led by the 1st Battalion Battle Group (1 RAR BG).

The 1 RAR BG’s mission is to mentor the Afghan National Army and manage construction works in Uruzgan Province.
