Handover Parade of the Mentoring and Reconstruction Task Force

Command of the Mentoring and Reconstruction Task Force has been officially handed over in Tarin Kowt.

A special parade marked the transition of authority from the 7th Battalion Battle Group (7 RAR BG) to the 1st Battalion Battle Group (1 RAR BG).

7 RAR BG has been in Afghanistan since October last year and their deployment mentoring the Afghan National Army and managing construction works has been hailed a huge success, but it has not been without loss.

An empty space was left in the front rank of Combat Team Tusk in memory of Corporal Mathew Hopkins who was killed in action on the 16th of March, leaving behind a young family.

After the parade, a number of commendations were presented to members of the 7 RAR BG to recognise individual excellence.
