A Special Day on Operations

It is a normal part of Operational life that soldiers miss many special days, Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries and other significant family occasions, all pass by as members of the ADF continue to strive on their missions. For a small group of the 1st Mentoring and Reconstruction Task Force in Afghanistan, Sunday 10th May, was one of those days. Three mothers and one grandmother are serving with the Battle Group in Tarin Kowt and the women gathered together to enjoy a quick chat and a laugh about motherhood and how their children marked the occasion, while mum was away.

The four mothers who got together on Mother’s Day were Warrant Officer Class Two Cassandra Jones, Sergeant Donna Bourke, Corporal Ivona Bartusch and Corporal Nicole Spohn.
