Australian surgical team in Afghanistan

Australia is currently providing a Surgical and Intensive Care team to the International Security and Assistance Force in Afghanistan. The team is working the Dutch-led Role 2 Hospital Facility based in Camp Holland near Tarin Kowt in Uruzgan Province.

The hospital is staffed by Dutch, Australian and Singaporean Defence medical specialists. The team which is a mixture of both regular and reserve specialists deploy on a two month rotational basis, providing surgical and intensive care expertise for both coalition soldiers and local casualties whose injuries are too acute for treatment by local medical centres.
